The Tournament is open to amateur golfers (as
defined by the Rules of Golf) who have a handicap of 18 strokes
or less under the Council of National Golf Unions’ handicapping
scheme.
The Tournament will comprise a 36 hole qualifying event,
18 holes on each of 28th & 29th June 2008, with the leading
16 scratch aggregates qualifying for a section of 18 hole scratch
match play. Once the scratch qualifiers are known, the leading
32 nett aggregates will qualify for two sections of 18 hole handicap
match play, the leading 16 nett aggregates in the first section.
All three match play sections will be played during the evenings
30th June to 4th July 2008. Play will commence at 7.30am on the qualifying
days and at 5.15pm on each evening except for the semi-finals and
finals which will commence at 5.30pm.
Entrants shall enter on an
official entry form accompanied by an entry fee of £15.00.
Forms are available from the Tournament Secretary, Turnhouse Golf
Club, 154 Turnhouse Road, Edinburgh EH12 0AD or can be downloaded
from www.turnhousegc.com/opens. Entries close at 12 noon 14th June
2008 although late entries will be accepted in the event of undersubscription.
The maximum number of entrants will be 201. The number of Turnhouse
entrants will be limited to 85 unless the event is undersubscribed.
In the event of oversubscription at the closing date, the highest
handicapped entrants will be balloted out. In the event of withdrawal,
an entry fee will be refunded only if the withdrawal is before
14th June 2008. All entrants will be notified of their starting
times.
In the event of a tie in the qualifying rounds, prize vouchers
will be shared. No person may win more than one qualifying prize.
In the event of a tie for a position in the match play, the competitor
with the lower single round will win, with thereafter the lowest
9 hole score, and thereafter in such a manner as the tournament
committee will decide. In the event of a match play tie being level
after 18 holes, play will continue until a hole is won with strokes
being given and received as in the first 18 holes.
The handicap
match play will be played off current handicaps with the full difference
in handicap being given in strokes.
The tournament committee reserve
the right to reject any entry and to adjudicate as necessary in
any matter; the tournament committee’s decision is final.
Club rules in respect of dress must be observed at all times. A
good standard of dress throughout is expected.
The 2008 tournament is a Lothians
Golf Association Order of Merit Event.
